Bowling Green, KY: The Historic RailPark & Train Museum will host a Red Carpet Movie Showing of the independent film, Summer of ’67. Several scenes from the movie were filmed on site at the L&N Depot and feature train cars that are currently on display. Based on real life events, Summer of ’67 brings to life the turbulent times of the sixties and the struggles faced by the men and women impacted by the Vietnam War. Young wife and mother Milly is forced to live with her mother-in-law while her husband Gerald is away on the USS Forrestal. Kate must choose between Peter her high school sweetheart and Van her new hippie boyfriend. Ruby Mae finally finds true love with Reggie only to have him whisked away by the draft. Each woman faces the question of whether their man will return, and even if he does, will life as they know it ever be the same?
The movie will be shown as many as six times over two days with one showing being hosted as the 11th anniversary a museum fundraiser. A variety of show times are set for September 8th & 9th. The RailPark will be set up as a theater and hold 120 seats per showing. A special 6:00 PM showing on Saturday Sept. 8th will be our Annual Fundraiser and those tickets will also include dinner along with a Q&A with the film makers and actors. Tickers for this showing are $30 for RailPark Members and $35 for Non-Members. Private seating’s are available
to groups that require the full seating.
We want to invite the community to be a part of this event! We encourage area churches and military groups to call us about group tickets.
